Hi, I’m Lucy.
I am a registered psychotherapist and I help people develop new skills to cope, develop meaningful change and enhance the sense of direction in their lives through counselling and psychotherapy.
About Me
Let me introduce myself, my name is Lucy Thornby. I am a qualified psychotherapist, holding a U.K professional body accredited BSc First Class Honours degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (the BACP). I have worked both with adults and teenagers, for the therapeutic agencies Choose Therapy and London Young Counselling.
I am qualified to offer Psychodynamic, Person-Centred, Cognitive-Behavioural and Existential therapies, and I utilise the scientifically researched theories of these to support my work as an Integrative Therapist. I believe that this style of working allows more nuance to meet each individual client. I aim to support you with useful strategies for your present circumstances, alongside a reflective consideration of how the past may be exerting its influence. I have been practicing psychotherapy since 2019, previously working for almost a decade in the field of education with a focus on neurodivergence.
I work with clients both in person (in central London) and online.
My Approach
Everyone is Unique
Having previously worked in education before becoming a psychotherapist, I keenly know how, despite commonalities, we all perceive and process in unique ways.
Understanding leads to Healing
When we feel overwhelmed, lost, anxious or depressed, a longing for a sense of understanding or change can intensify. Perhaps you have felt this way for a while or you are suddenly facing transition in your life. Therapy can help you open doors to personal growth that one never knew were closed. Personal insights and healing can expand your relationship with yourself and support your relationship with others and the wider world around you.
My Therapeutic Approach
I draw upon a range of creative strategies to help you explore your influences, beliefs and behaviours. Through considering what motivates your choices and underlies your feelings, I support you to develop new coping and communication skills, to enhance your sense of wellbeing, meaningfulness and agency in your life.
